SHA will put out a new release of the Automated Hauling Permit System (AHPS) by January 1st, 2009. This release will include new functionality, as well as some new features. SHA along with Baltimore City collaborated to provide a more efficient and effective hauling permit process and improve access to the Port of Baltimore. By January 1st the AHPS will issue permits on behalf of Baltimore City along predefined approved routes within specific dimensions & weight for loads going to and from the Baltimore City Line to the Port. The weight/dimensions and routes are:
Predefined dimensions:
Weight =< 120,000lbs GVW, Width =< 12’0”, Height =< 14’6”, Length =< 85’0”,
Predefined routes:
To the Port: I 95 at Keith Ave – Keith Ave - Broening Hwy - Dundalk Marine Terminal
From the Port: Dundalk Marine Terminal – Broening Hwy – Keith Ave – to I 95
Any loads exceeding these dimensions or off of these predefined routes will still be handled by the Baltimore City Permit Office at 443-984-2195.
Loads meeting these criteria will be issued a combined SHA-Baltimore City hauling permit by SHA which will be valid in both jurisdictions.
Highlights of the release:
- Customers will be able to choose permit delivery options of the current fax plus have options of print out and email.
- General conditions will NO longer be sent as part of the permit. It will be the responsibility of the permittee to obtain this from our website at http://www.marylandroads.com/BusinessWithSHA/trucking/oots/pdf/GConditions.pdf
- In permits containing both SHA and Baltimore City moves, fees for Baltimore City will be collected by SHA.
- Blanket permits will be auto-issued against the database.
- Permit copies for escorts can now be emailed to recipients.
- When searching for permits on the web, the search results will also now include trailer, trailer license, load description and serial numbers .
- Vehicle and states selection fields will now allow 3rd character recognition and allow for free form typing.
- Added ability to search your account for individual permits to view (currently have to open as a template).
